2 APD officers indicted by grand jury
Travis County DA José Garza announced the return of three indictments against three law enforcement officers that came out of two separate incidents.
AUSTIN, Texas - Travis County District Attorney José Garza announced indictment charges have been brought against two APD officers. A third indictment charge was also brought against a corrections officer with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.
The indictments against the APD officers are related to an arrest in March 2019 in which the officers allegedly caused bodily injury.
On January 20, APD Officers Gregory Gentry and Chance Bretches were indicted for the felony offense of Aggravated Assault by A Public Servant, Serious Bodily Injury/Deadly Weapon, a first-degree felony. The Grand Jury also returned a no bill on a third officer related to this incident.

KILLEEN, TX â On Aug 12, 2020, around 6:51 p.m., officers dispatched to the intersection of 195 and Chaparral Road from a call regarding a major crash; the incident involving a white Toyota Corolla and a silver Chevrolet Malibu.
Preliminary investigation reveal the Malibu was heading northbound on SH 195 in the outside lane approaching the intersection. Accordingly, the Corolla, heading southbound on SH 195, turned left at the intersection, went through the crossover, in an-attempt to cross the northbound lanes onto Chaparral.
The driver of the Corolla, Alexus Nicole Williams, failed to yield right of way to the Malibu, causing the Malibu to strike the Corolla s right passenger side.
